IncrediBuild Cloud Solution for an Organization

Scenario 5:
Your team is working from home with no or limited connection to the office, and you are interested in using IncrediBuild Cloud solution for establishing an IncrediBuild Environment on the cloud.

In this scenario, you can use cloud machines to create an IncrediBuild Environment for your team. The Coordinator will be located on a VM on the cloud, and by connecting their home machine to the cloud, your team members will have an unlimited number of Agents to accelerate their work.

You can use this work mode even if your team members have a connection to the office, but you want to enlarge the number of available Agents that will be at their disposal.  

In this scenario, IncrediBuild components are located as follows:

  • Home – one Agent located on one home machine.

  • Office – not relevant.

  • Cloud – the Coordinator and additional Agents are located on VMs on the cloud.

The are many benefits to using IncrediBuild Cloud in a pure cloud environment for your team, among them:

  • Creating one IncrediBuild Environment with VMs on the cloud for all your team members. 

  • Using shared cloud machines for optimized work efficiency. This means that by design once a cloud machine completes the acceleration of a task and is entering into an idle mode, it remains active for a certain period of time. This mechanism allows another team member to seamlessly use it for a new task, without needing to wait for the re-launch of the machine.

  • Avoiding network issues, since all the team members are connected to one Coordinator machine that is located on the cloud.

> To create an IncrediBuild-Cloud Environment for your team with IncrediBuild Cloud solution:

  1. Install the Coordinator on a VM in your cloud platform, as described on: Setting Up IncrediBuild Cloud in a Pure Cloud Environment
    Note: You can use these instructions for installing the Coordinator on the cloud, even if you want your team members to initiate tasks from their home machines and not from Agents on the cloud.

  2. From the Coordinator Monitor on the cloud, start the activation procedure of the solution by clicking the Add Cloud Cores button: 

  3. To launch VMs on the cloud for your tasks, follow the steps described on: Launching IncrediBuild Cloud

  4. Connect your home Agent to the new Coordinator in one of the following ways:
    Note: You can also work in IncrediBuild-Cloud Environment by initiating your tasks from a VM in that Environment. In this case, you need to install an Agent on a VM and to connect it to the Coordinator, in the same way as you install an Agent on your home machine.

    • If you do not have an Agent on your home machine:
      Install an Agent. During the installation of the Agent, enter in the Setup wizard the IP address of the new cloud Coordinator:

    • If you already have an installed Agent on your home machine that is connected to another Coordinator:
      Open the Agent Settings dialog box > Network > Coordinator, and enter in the Computer field the IP address of the new cloud Coordinator:

  5. Ask your team members to also connect their Agents to the new cloud Coordinator. 

  6. Disable the role of your home Agent as a Helper, to ensure that your home machine does not slow down builds initiated at other locations due to limited internet bandwidth, as described in Optimizing Performance When Initiating Your Work from Home.
