In order to run IncrediBuild Cloud on Azure platform, you need to have the following:
Azure Account – when you connect to Azure platform during the IncrediBuild Cloud activation, you will need to enter your account credentials. During the activation, you can create a new Azure account or use an existing account.
Tip
If you do not have an Azure account in your organization, Azure offers you $200 credit for 30 days to explore Azure services for free: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/free/
During this period, you can use the credit to run IncrediBuild Cloud on Azure. The credit will cover both Azure VMs and IncrediBuild licenses. If after 30 days you will want to continue using IncrediBuild Cloud with Azure, you will be asked to confirm your consent to pay for these services. When using this credit, you cannot use Azure Marketplace to purchase IncrediBuild Cloud solution.
- Directory Role - Global Administrator – when activating IncrediBuild Cloud, you need to sign into your Azure account with a Directory Role of Global Administrator. If you do not have a user with such a role, assign this role to an existing user or create a new user:
Info: For more information on viewing and assigning administrator roles in Azure Active Directory, see: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/users-groups-roles/directory-manage-roles-portal
- Role-Based Access Control (RABC) - Owner – when activating IncrediBuild Cloud, you need to sign into your Azure account with an RABC of Owner. If you do not have a user with such a role, assign this role to an existing user or create a new user:
Info: For more information on Role-Based Access Control, see: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/role-based-access-control/overview
- Sufficient Core Quota for Azure Region – by default, each Azure region has a quota limit to the number of cores that can be used by the VMs that run on it. Before you activate IncrediBuild Cloud, you should find out what is this quota limit for your preferred region. If this quota limit is too low for your needs and you want more cores for the acceleration of your task execution, you need to increase the quota by sending a request to Azure support. For detailed information, see the following instructions.
Setting the Core Quota of an Azure Region
During the solution activation procedure, you need to specify the Azure region on which the pool and additional Helper VMs will be created. By default, each Azure region has a quota limit to the number of cores that can be used by the VMs that run on it. If this quota limit is lower than the number of cores you want to use for executing tasks on the cloud, you need to increase in advance this quota. The quota increase is done at the subscription level, by sending a request to Azure support via Azure portal.
The VMs that are created by IncrediBuild Cloud for your task execution belong to the Standard BS Family. Therefore, when searching for the current quota limit of your selected region, you need to look for the quota of this type of VMs. By default, the quota limit of the Standard BS Family vCPUs is 10 cores. It is recommended to increase the quota of these VMs to at least the number of cores you want to allocate for executing your tasks on the cloud.
Info: The following instructions are based on Azure documentation:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-supportability/resource-manager-core-quotas-request
> Finding and increasing the core quota of a region:
- Sign into Azure portal with the same account you will use for IncrediBuild Cloud:
https://portal.azure.com/#home Open the Subscriptions page.
Note
You can use the Search box on the upper bar to find the requested page:
- On the Subscriptions page, select the subscription whose quota you want to find:
- On the selected subscription page, select Usage + quotas:
- On the Usages + quotas section, search for the current quota of your chosen region by using the Quota + Usage filters as follows:
- Select a provider – select Microsoft.Compute.
- All locations – select the region you will use for IncrediBuild Cloud.
- Show only items with usage – select Show all. Once the results appear, locate the Standard BS Family vCPUs.
Note
The VMs that are created on Azure by IncrediBuild Cloud for executing tasks belong to the BS family.
The current usage and quota limit values are displayed at the end of the row. In the following example, the usage is currently 4 cores, while the quota limit is 10 cores:
- To increase the quota limit of cores for this region, click the Request Increase button on the upper right corner:
- On the New support request page – Basics step, open the Quota type drop-down list and select Compute-VM (CORES-VCPUs) subscription limit increases. Then, click Next:
- On the New support request page – Problem step, set the following in the Quota details pane:
- Deployment model – select Resource Manager.
- Location - select the region where the VMs of IncrediBuild Cloud will run.
- SKU family – select BS Series.
- SKU Series - New Limit box – enter the number of cores that will serve as the new limit. This number should not be lower than the value of the Total Cores Limit parameter of the solution settings, which is set during the activation procedure. The Total Cores Limit parameter defines the maximum number of cores on the cloud that can be allocated to the execution of tasks.
Info: For more information on the Total Cores Limit parameter, see: Editing IncrediBuild Cloud Settings.Note
You can also change the Severity level of your request.
- After you set all the parameters, click the Save and Continue button.
Your request is being sent to Azure Support. Wait to the confirmation of the quota increase, before activating IncrediBuild Cloud solution.
