After you installed a Coordinator in your IncrediBuild Environment, you can install a Backup Coordinator on a different machine. The Backup Coordinator is normally idle, and it is only activated if the primary Coordinator becomes unavailable. When this state occurs, the Agents that were connected to the primary Coordinator, automatically switch to the Backup Coordinator, making it possible to continue using IncrediBuild Environment while the problem is solved. Once the primary Coordinator is restored, the Agents automatically return to the original configuration.

> To install a Backup Coordinator:

  1. On the machine that will host the Backup Coordinator, double-click IncrediBuild Setup file.
    IncrediBuild Setup wizard appears.

  2. On the Welcome page of IncrediBuild Setup wizard, click Next.

  3. Depending on whether you have an Agent on this machine or not, perform one of the following:

    • On a machine without an Agent – on the Setup Options page, select Install IncrediBuild, and click Next.

    • On a machine with an Agent – on the Setup Options page appears, select Install Additional Components, and click Next.

  4. On the License Agreement page, select I accept the terms of the license agreement. Then, click Next.

  5. On the Installation Options > Custom page, perform the following:

    • Clear the IncrediBuild Coordinator check box.

    • Select the IncrediBuild Backup Coordinator check box.

      Then, click Next.

  6. On the Coordinator Selection page, perform the following:

    • Verify that the Connect Agent to existing Coordinator option is selected.

    • On the Network name field, enter the IP address or hostname of the primary Coordinator.

      Then, click Next.

  7. Continue to follow the wizard instructions until the Install complete page, where you receive the following confirmation: The selected IncrediBuild components have been successfully installed.

  8. Exit the Setup wizard.

A Backup Coordinator is installed on the local machine.

 

Now you need to configure in the settings of the primary Coordinator the connection to the Backup Coordinator.

> To set the Backup Coordinator of a primary Coordinator:

  1. On the primary Coordinator, open the Coordinator Setting dialog box.

  2. Go to the Coordinator > Backup section. Then, select from the drop-down list the Backup Coordinator you installed:

    The selected Backup Coordinator will serve as the backup of the primary Coordinator.
